Crabbing...

Last Friday we went crabbing at Semaphore Jetty. There were two jetties there, we went to the first one (the new jetty) but there were just too many people even at 9.30pm! So we decided to head to the old jetty. We brought our fold up chairs, nasi goreng, bbq chicken wings, drinks and some chips to munch while waiting for to catch some crabs. We started crabbing at around 10pm and stayed there for almost 2 hours.

We managed to catch about 15 crabs or more in two hours. But since there are some rules by the SA government we have to comply to, we only brought back home 7 crabs. The rules are: 1. The crab must be 11cm long. 2. All female crabs with eggs must be thrown back into the sea. 3. No baits that are not originated from the sea, ie. chicken, lamb, etc.  We did not know of the rule no. 3 so thankfully there were no inspectors that night. These inspectors will make sure that these rules are complied to and if not, they will fine about AUD200 on the spot.

We definitely had fun crabbing for the first time, so we decided to go again yesterday night. Hehe. But yesterday we arrived a bit late, around 11.30pm and went back home at around 2.30pm, to find out that there was no electricity all around Prospect. The electricity was finally restored at about 5.30am. Thank goodness the wind was so strong, coz it was freaking hot yesterday~

Yesterday's crabbing was more relaxing than the first night coz there were no busy bodies (a group of people who went crabbing as well and kept looking at other people's catch). We managed to catch about 30 crabs, threw back some into the sea and brought back home around 25 crabs (I lost count after 11 crabs actually). Oh, and I caught two matured/adult male crabs! They were quite huge!

So, time for us to eat crabs! Yummeeyyhh~~! Hehe.

p/s: I've already uploaded some photos of us crabbing in Facebook.
