Math + Chemistry, just not my thing!

Math + Chemistry? I'm not good at both actually! I happened to get good grades during my years in IIUM because I studied hard to achieve it. I know, I'm such a nerd! I'm not born insanely smart like some people (BB or Najwa...haha!)

And now, I'm doing a Master's research in these areas of interest. Crazy I'll tell ya! I hope I won't loose my mind over this.

Because I'm doing research, probably most of you would like to know what I'm doing. My topic is "Friday the 13th of UV Irradiation for Potable Water." I'll break it down for your understanding:

Friday the 13th: an occasional failure in the chemical process unit, no matter how good the operation and design of the plant/process unit.
UV irradiation/disinfection: water disinfection process unit using UV
Potable water: drinking water

So basically, I'll be doing research on the mathematical models that predicts when these occasional failure will occur. For my master's research, I will be studying a few models and choose the best model, extend it, justify it and simulate it. However, my supervisor's plan for me is to study a few models, select the best one, add my own term, extend it, justify it and simulate it. And he said "THAT is PhD!"

  1. that's what usually happens in masters or phd. if u're uncomfortable with the topic(or field) u have to tell the supervisor. because u r going to be doing it for a long time, and if u dont have interest u're going to burn out soon. dont let ur supervisor bully u into doing topics that they want, they should help u in doping topics that u want/interested in

  2. I'm the one who agreed to the topic in the 1st place..hehehe
