Parents shortcut

Being a mother & a student (and wife), I can't seemed to managed myself and my family very well. Everything is so disorganized. I was beginning to doubt my parenting skills. Then, I read this interesting article about parenting shortcuts in a magazine a couple of days ago. But I didn't know what magazine it was since the cover was torn apart. After reading the article, I found out that I am not that bad of being a mother after all. Hehe. Well, thought I should share it here (from what I remembered):

Shortcut rating: In a scale between 1 to 5, 1 being acceptable, 5 being unacceptable.

Bathing your baby:
Mag: Most of the parents usually are too tired or don't have the proper time to bath the baby everyday. Actually, parents can skip bath times because babies are usually not dirty. However, we need to wash their face & bottom everyday.
Shortcut rating: 1/5.

Me: Yes, I admit it. I don't usually bath Adel everyday because I couldn't find the proper time or sometimes I'm just too tired. In the morning, it's too cold here. Then we normally went out till evening, and Adel is already sleeping. If he is not sleeping, sometimes we would give him a bath, sometimes not (depending on the weather too). On weekdays, the babysitter gives him a bath everyday before I pick him up.

Dirty Nappy:
Mag: We do need to change baby's nappies often when baby is little. But when they grew older, we can stretch the time between nappy changing. However, if the baby have sensitive skin, try to change their nappies as often as possible.
Shortcut rating: 2/5

Me: When Adel is a still a newborn, I do changed his nappies as often as possible (probably because I was still in confinement and have nothing else to do). Now that he is older and I am getting busier, I did stretch some times on nappy changing. I was usually occupied with either my studies or the household chores that I sometimes forget to change his nappy.

House chores:
Mag: It's okay to leave the house untidy because we should give more attention to our baby. Just leave the dirty dishes in the sink until we have the right time to clean it up. Besides, babies who are exposed to germs have stronger antibodies to fight those germs in the future.
Shortcut rating: 1/5

Me: Hehe. Dirty dishes, untidy house. Yep. That should well explain how my house is normally like. I'm so not organized!

TV nanny:
Mag: We tend to leave our baby in front of the TV to keep them occupied while we do something else. It's okay to let the TV be our nanny for a few hours a day. But don't let it be your full time nanny. TV is good for childrens' development. But too much TV is no good. It can also develop obesity in children.
Shortcut rating: 2/5

Me: Adel only watches TV when I'm occupied doing something else. But he doesn't really watch TV that much coz he will get bored after about half an hour and will scream for attention.

Sleep medicine:
Mag: We are tired from work. And have to stay up all night because our baby is not well. Some parents will give cough syrup to their baby to let them sleep through the night, so that the parents will have a good night sleep. Some babies do need cough syrup if they are really really unwell and needed it. But if babies just have normal cold & sniffles, don't give them cough syrup.
Shortcut rating: 4/5 (I would give it a 5/5!)

Me: Never done this before. Adel is a deep sleeper at night. I have no trouble sleeping at night. I only have to wake up a couple of times for feeding.
