My first movie experience - Adel’s POV

Yesterday was my Mama’s birthday. When I woke up in the morning, I sang “*Habeday to youuu mama...”and Mama was so happy. She hugged & kissed me & said thank you. But I continued singing “Habeday to you Adel...” but Mama said “No, it’s Mama’s birthday, not Adel’s birthday…” I was so sad that my Mama said it wasn’t my birthday so I started crying, but quickly Mama said to me... ”Ok..Ok…today is Adel’s birthday, happy birthday to you Adel!”  Then like every other morning, I pull Mama out of the bed to go play with my toys in front (living room).

This is when I sang Habeday to Mama & helped Mama blow the candles.

This is Mama's birthday gift. I picked them out myself. Papa wanted to buy the big red roses but I think this flower is much nicer.

Later in the afternoon, Mama & Papa was getting ready to go out. Papa said he wanted to bring me to watch Monsters Uni & celebrate Mama’s birthday. I like monsters…”huaaarrghhh!!!” (That’s how a monster sounds like). As always, I am the first one who’s all ready to go, and Mama is always the last. As I waited in front of the door, I asked Mama to hurry up “Hurry up Mama! Adel nak go see Monsters Uni…”

In the car, I read the toys catalogue & said to Papa “Adel nak go see toys…” and Papa said “OK…” But I was a bit suspicious when Papa took the route to Debbie’s house. I thought they were actually going to send me to Debbie’s house. I was really quiet when we were near Debbie’s street, but then we went past the street and went straight ahead. I was relieved! I quickly said “Takdek dah Debbie’s house…bye bye Debbie…”

Finally we reached the destination. I don’t know what this place is called but I remembered being here a lot of times before. I think Mama likes this place. She shops here a lot too. Mama & Papa took the lift to go to this one dark place upstairs. I like to say “going up!” every time we entered the lift. I wanted to push the buttons but I couldn’t reach them while I’m strapped in the stroller. Upstairs, when Papa was buying tickets, I saw M&M’s & I wanted them so badly so I asked Mama “Adel nak emenem…” but Mama pretended not to hear me & quickly diverted my attention to these blue little things in front of me. I asked Mama “What’s this Mama?” and Mama said they’re “Smurfs…” and she pointed Papa Smurf to me. I remembered Papa Smurf because his name is like Papa’s name. Then Papa came back with a Monster’s goodie bag! I was so happy!! There were so many goodies inside the goodie bag.

While Mama & Papa were eating, I was so distracted with all the goodies inside the bag, even when Mama tried to feed me the fish & chips, I refused to eat them. There were markers, crayons, a funny bobbing eye pen, stickers (but Papa said they were not stickers but tattoos) and a lot more. Mama gave me a paper & I started to draw monsters, Mama, Papa & my hands. After a while, I was getting bored, so I started running & jumping in the booth. Mama told me to be careful but I didn’t listen. I kept running & jumping anyways. Then Mama tried to scare me by saying there’s a Darth Vader behind me so I quickly ran & hug my Mama because I was afraid of Darth Vader. I saw him once in Target. He was as tall as I am and have a very scary face. That’s why I am afraid of the Darth Vader.

After lunch (I had a quick bottle of milk), we went to the nappy room to change nappy. Mama & Papa prayed in there then we went to the cinema. It was almost empty. I sat quietly on my seat in between Mama & Papa. Before Monsters Uni started, there were a lot of movie trailers showing cartoons on the big TV, I asked Mama “what’s this?” almost every minute because everything seems interesting to me. But one movie trailer really caught my attention. Mama said it’s called “Planes” and I imagined myself being the plane and started making plane sounds and pretended that I am flying. Mama & Papa smiled at each other when they saw what I was doing. I really can’t wait for the movie to come out so I can watch it on the big TV again.

When the movie has finally started, I was already really sleepy. I only watched Monsters Uni for about 10 minutes before I dozed off. I finally woke up outside the cinema. And we were ready to go home. Mama made a quick stop & bought some round delicious cakes** for herself but I demanded for one too. She gave me one & I finished it off in one go. It was delicious!
