Roti John

Semalam ternampak roti john in my news feed, pastu tetiba ada perasaan mcm "Eh, dah lama dah tak makan roti john nih" (tak...saya tak mengidam..)

So awal pagi lagi dah semangat nak buat hot dog & burger buns untuk buat bekal roti john for lunch. Kalau tengok dalam recipe it only took 1h 30min. So sepatutnya sempat lah nak buat bekal to uni. Tengok2 tepung takdek plak. Terpaksa lah tunggu kedai bukak untuk gi beli tepung...actually dah gi kedai tu kan lebih senang beli je terus hot dog buns? Tapi ngengada nak buat sendiri gak.

Campak je semua bahan dalam breadmaker, let it knead & rise for 1h 30min. Pastu take it out from the breadmaker & bentuk2 kan lah jadi hot dog buns & burger buns and I let it rise for an hour (video tutorial seperti di bawah). Kalau ikutkan recipe lepas dia knead dough dia terus bahagi and baru let the dough rise for 35min. So I took double the time of the original cooking time-that makes it 3 hours of cooking time. Woaah~ patutlah tengah hari baru siap! Hehe.

Maka, inilah hasil tak seberapa ku. Maaplah ghupe buruk~ Hahah. Anyways, buns tuh sedap & lembut.

p/s: supervisor takdek for 2 weeks, so sekali sekala rilex & buat roti kan..






The recipes
For the buns (copied from allrecipes.com):

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 (.25 ounce) package instant yeast
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg
DIRECTIONS:
1.In a small saucepan, heat milk, water and butter until very warm, 120 degrees F (50 degrees C).
2.In a large bowl, mix together 1 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Mix milk mixture into flour mixture, and then mix in egg. Stir in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
3.Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls, and place on a greased baking sheet. Flatten slightly. Cover, and let rise for 30 to 35 minutes.
4.Bake at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
5.For Hot Dog Buns: Shape each piece into a 6x4 inch rectangle. Starting with the longer side, roll up tightly, and pinch edges and ends to seal. Let rise about 20 to 25 minutes. Bake as above. These buns are pretty big. I usually make 16 instead of 12.

Bahan-bahan ( 6ketul )
6biji roti hotdog
3biji telur
80gm daging cincang/dgg burger-goreng seketika jika suka
1/4labu bawang besar- dikisar/dipotong dadu
sedikit kubis dan lobak merah-diracik halus
1/2 sk serbuk kari
daun bawang-option
garam
lada sulah
butter

Cara-cara
1.    Pukul telur, masukkan daging cincang, bawang besar, kubis, lobak, serbuk kari dan sedikit garam.    
     Pukul hingga sekata.
2.    Sapu roti dengan sedikit butter.
3.    Panaskan kuali. Curahkan 1senduk campuran telur tadi dan letak roti tadi.
4.    Biar sehingga telur garing, kemudian angkat dan lipat.
5.    Picitkan mayonis dan sos cili. Potong dan sedia untuk menjamu selera. Selamat mencuba.
